abstract:
Reversed field pinch equilibria have been numerically studied on the basis of a set of stationary dissipative MHD equations, where mass, momentum and energy conservation, Ohm's law and perpendicular heat transport are included. Moreover, an effective dynamo electric field epsilon is taken into account. The equilibrium magnetic field B, plasma temperature T and pressure p, as well as some associated fields are determined consistently by this system. Two types of dynamo model epsilon = alpha B, with alpha either a scalar (isotropic-alpha model) or a tensor (symmetric hyperbolic tensor-alpha model), have been used and are discussed. The results are found to be in good agreement with the experimental measurements.
