abstract:
A novel conjugate copolymer, containing three different fluorene units functionalized in 9 position with triphenylamines or octyl chains or an europium thienoyl complex linked through an alkyl chain, has been synthesized via a three-step process. The synthesis exploits a Suzuki coupling copolymerization, a Claisen condensation to obtain diketone ligands, and a postpolymerization chelation of Eu (III) with the polymer, two 2-tienoyltrifluoroacetone chelating units and one phenantroline are also included. We have investigated the photoluminescence (PL) properties of the new random copolymer and the optoelectronic properties of the related light-emitting device; both PL and EL multicolor (blue and red) emissions were obtained.
