The Conference aimed to provide an opportunity for experts, scholars and policy-makers to exchange views on a number of issues that are at the heart of the current scientific, institutional and political debate - such as the establishment of Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZs), fishing conflicts, the role of RMFOs, control systems at sea, the BBNJ Agreement. The aim was to analyze emerging critical issues and the solutions being adopted in different international fora.
The Conference has been jointly organized by the Institute for Research on Innovation and Services for Development of the National Research Council (CNR/IRISS), the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry (MASAF), the University of Naples "L'Orientale" and the International Association for the Law of the Sea (AssIDMer). It represented the final event of the Research Project: "Control over fishing activities following regulatory changes, by means of an integrated approach and using innovative systems", under the Collaboration Agreement between MASAF (formerly MIPAAF) and CNR/IRISS.
