This essay analyses the civil liability issues related to scientific research. In particular, the paper describes how specific topics, such as the technological unknown, converging technologies and border research can be addressed from the Italian juridical system. In conclusion, the evolution of the aforementioned legal paradigms is evaluated in terms of their applicability to the potential damages caused by research activity. The latter aspect is pivotal to guarantee a healthy evolution of scientific research.
