The Fate of Hittitologists in the 1946 Correspondence between Hans Gustav Güterbock and Albrecht Goetze

The paper offers an overview of the correspondence between Albrecht Goetze and Hans Gustav Gueterbock, two of the world's foremost scholars on the ancient Near East, both compelled to leave Germany during the Nazi period. The rich epistolary exchange of the two scholars dates mainly to the time of their exile and covers the span of time from 1931-1970. The paper presents the publication of two letters dated 1946 and kept in the Yale University Archives, New Haven.
