The Tale of the Sun God, the Cow and the Fisherman (CTH 363), a mythological Hittite text of Hurrian tradition found in Bo?azköy-?attu?a, offers many points of interest. This essay examines the topos of the newborn - a son of the Sun God and a cow - who is exposed on a mountain and then adopted by a fisherman, as an example of childhood liminality between the natural and the cultural world.
