abstract:
This oaper presents a dinamic filing system for clinical re- cords that satisfies the different desiderata of specialized me- dicine. The system accents standardized and free text data as required by several medical specializations, for it is flexibly structured to meet the various need of a wide hospital community. Basically, the clinical form structure is visualized on a display unfilled or filled according to whether the operator I by handinq a light pen directly on the screen or pressincr an alnha-numerical keyboard, is to record the initial data or to update the existing record by new data. This set-up has appeared to be particularly well suited to solve input problems, for thus input data can be inspected imme diately as structured data within the record frame itself;and to solve control problems of these input data, for they can be mo- dified or completed immediately by real time access to memory. Furthermore, the system permits a multiple localization of the clinical records by means of a triple cross-index recall. Finally, the system is capable to execute the search of and the collection of sub-sets of data from single records across the whole file, accordinq to any criteria as specified by hospi- tal doctors.
