Developing expert systems for education: an experimental project

Building a computer-based instructional system which shows some desirable behaviours of a human tutor requires knowledge not only of the topic to be taught but also of teaching and learning processes. In this paper we describe the main features of an intelligent educational system we are developing, devoted to teach group theory elements.
