Le cause psicosociali della perdita dell'autonomia di spostamento infantile

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2022
abstract:
The issue of children's independent mobility is correlated to other fundamental topics like the characteristics of the urban environment, the perception of safety and the parental role. The transformation of the urban environment, giving priority to mobility practices based almost on the use of the private car, has made the city more dangerous and less accessible to children and this has drastically and progressively reduced their independent mobility. The fear of traffic and road accidents is only one of the causes of this dramatic reduction. In this contribution we will highlight what are the other factors, especially psychosocial, who have contributed to the disappearance of children in our cities. Among these, the perception of environmental and social danger on the part of parents and the assumption of an overprotective attitude, based on the supervision and control of their children, play an important role.
