Distribuzione del solfo nei livelli di carbone della Ia vena del bacino carbonifero terziario del Sulcis (Sardegna SW)

The distribution of the different forms of sulfur in coal seams of Sulcis tertiary coalfield , SW Sardinia, has been investigated . A total of 165 samples has been collected, both core samples and channel samples along drifts . The total sulfur content, detected by traditional methods, shows a mean value of 6.6 %. The organic sulfur, detected by microprobe analysis , shows a mean value of 3.7 %, and forms the 60 % of total sulfur. Finally, the mineral sulfur, worked out by difference between previous values, shows a mean value of 2.6%. The data treatment led to draw up the iso-value curves of sulfur maps as forecasting tools in mining development.
