Abstract:
The recent commercialisation of a new generation of MEMS-based PU probes has promoted
the development of new methodologies for their calibration whose effects on measured energetic
quantities can be directly compared with measurement results obtained using the nominal
calibration provided by the manufacturer. This communication just reports about calibration
effects on the quantity called "sound wave conductance" [D. Stanzial and G. Schiffrer, "On the
connection between energy velocity, reverberation time and angular momentum", Journal of
Sound and Vibration Vol. 329, 2010, pp. 931-943] when measured by means of a commercially
available PU probe using its nominal calibration and the calibration performed using a methodology
recently proposed by the authors. The sound wave conductance has been here calculated
as the line integral of the normalized ratio of sound intensity to mean energy density and the
relative calibration error affecting this quantity has been estimated.
