Cristoforo Colombo nei manuali scolastici italiani in prossimità del Quinto Centenario della sua morte

The article makes an analysis of the way in wich the figure and the historical events of Christopher Columbus and his voyages of exploration and colonization of the American continent are described in the Italian Schools ' textbooks, at a short distance from the fifth centenary of his death (2006). The results show some of the main causes of the many clichés' survival on the admiral and the Discovery of America.
