The object of this work is the study of a document, made of three account books, which testifies an extraordinary financing allocated at the end of the XIV century by the Crown of Aragon in order to improve defences in southern Sardinia. Written by Jordi Planella, the batlle general (baile), this dossier induces a reflection about the peculiarity and uniqueness that this institutional office had acquired in Regnum Sardiniae and among the other kingdoms of the Iberian Confederation.
