Breeder genetic algorithms for airfoil design optimisation

Conference Paper
Publication Date:
1996
abstract:
In this paper a version of Genetic Algorithms, the Breeder Genetic Algorithms, suitable for the continuous parameter optimisation, has been applied and compared against a classical discrete Genetic Algorithm on a typical optimisation problem in Aerodynamics, the problem of determining the coordinates of an airfoil given a surface pressure distribution. Our results have shown that the Breeder Genetic Algorithms work better than classical discrete-coded Genetic Algorithms in this field.
