The fruition of the Heritage and of immaterial cultural resources according to an experiential approach: Some Case Studies in Italy
Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2009
abstract:
Nowadays, cultural supply systems are based not only on the consumption of goods and services, but
also on the creation of experiences. Purpose of this paper is to highlight how the experiential approach is the
proper perspective to enhance the tangible and intangible cultural assets of an area.
Methodologically, the paper identifies three significant dimensions to study the cultural products in an
experiential approach: The richness of experience, the atmosphere, and the consistency with territorial identity.
These three dimensions are subsequently applied to three Study Cases - 1) The Museo dei Ragazzi in Florence,
2) The RavelloFestival on the Amalfi Coast, 3) The Virtual Archaeological Museum of Herculaneum - to
highlight the different ways the cultural products can structure their supply systems in an experiential
perspective.
