Contemporary housing demands and new containers

Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2005
abstract:
The traditional household is disappearing from the organization of the city; with the opportunities offered by global organization, people have begun to inhabit the world in a more ramified way, and the place of residence is no longer automatically a house. Aim of this work is that of analysing the new kind of housing demand and the transformations caused by no-satisfied needs. The new urban containers, producted by the globalization, are generally built out of the city and they are enriched by functions that simulate urban values suitable to the time of fast traffic. Thus, furthermore, the work is aimed at constructing housing planning guide lines for the new needs in order to contribute at the comprehension of those urban dynamics and support the choises of planners and administrators in the contemporary urban identity construction.
