Experimenting with Prolog in High Schools: a Project

Chapter
Publication Date:
1986
abstract:
Knowledge representation is a fundamental aim of every learning process. In fact, it is more important to acquire the ability to reflect on the nature of concepts and on their links rather than to learn isolated notions in different subjects. The aim of a learning process is the acquisition of such a general ability, while specific contents are assimilated as a consequence. Prolog programming language is a good tool to provide students with a rich environment for doing interesting projects on knowledge representation in a given field. This paper discusses a project whose aim was to test the educational opportunities provided by Prolog in high schools (age 14-17).
