"Marmi" usati nell'antichità classica e riutilizzati in epoca barocca: caratteri geochimici ed isotopici

In the present work the results of the archeometric study of a series of coloured limestones, sometimes slightly subjected to a weathering proces, from quarries of Greece, Turkey and Egypt are reported. In particular, for the first time the analytical approach used for white marbles has been extended to coloured ones, and the determination of 87Sr/86Sr isotopic ratios, the ?13C and ?18O has been obtained. For comparison, this study also includes italian marbles whose macroscopical features are similar to the previous ones. The results have evidenced the possibility to differentiate the marbles according to their provenance.
