Polarization-heterodyne measurement of Kerr coefficient in optical fibers

The feasibility of a novel polarization heterodyne technique is demonstrated. It is shown that this technique directly allows the measurement of nnonlinear coefficient through Kerr-induced birefringence in short fiber-optic samples.
