Spazi del lavoro e della produzione nelle ville e in altri contesti abitativi della Sicilia tardoantica: considerazioni a partire da ricerche recenti

Working and productive spaces in the villas and in other residential contexts in late antique Sicily: considerations starting from recent researches · This paper is aimed at developing a theme which has not been thoroughly investigated, namely the relationship between residential buildings and working / productive spaces in Sicily during the different historical phases of the long period referred to as "Late Antiquity". In the complex historical panorama of late antique Sicily (4th-5th century ad), the contribution of the increasing archaeological data available is decisive to understand some very much debated socio-economic processes. The study on the productive and service sectors, which are connected to villas, farms and domus, is a useful tool of analysis on that regard.
