Geological risks and Cultural heritage safeguard

This issue of "Disaster Advances" focus on different papers presented at the workshop on Geological risks and Cultural heritage safeguard, within the framework of the conference Geoitalia 2011, organized by the FIST (Italian Federation of the Earth Sciences) and held in Turin (Italy) on 20 September 2011. The Conference, which was supported by the research group on Geohazards and Cultural Heritage of the Italian National Research Council - Institute of Archaeological and Monumental Heritage -, was an attempt to give new impetus to international and national collaborations within the context of the cultural heritage protection and conservation. In detail, the workshop permitted to offer a synthesis about the state of the art on knowledge, safeguard and conservation of the cultural heritage exposed to geological risks such as earthquakes, landslides, floods and tsunami occurred in the Italian regions and other Mediterranean countries.
