Maps of Hard Structures in Lagoon of Venice

The Venice lagoon is the largest in the Mediterranean Sea with an area of approximately 550 square kilometers. The presence of man dates back to the ancient Romans times and the changes introduced in this environment over time are significant. In this man-made environment there are now a number of structures that serve different purposes. The structures have been cataloged and mapped within the Venice 2021 project to identify suitable substrates for the settlement of oysters and the maps produced are made available for further studies of fouling communities, land management, but also cultural heritage.
