Abstract:
In this paper we present a mobile and ubiquitous learning environment called MoULe, based on an educational mode1 closely related to the Informal Learning anci Situated Learning paradigms. In order to expand learning opportunities offered to the users, the MoULe project combines the functionalities typical of a Learning Management System with specially designed mobile learning activities. In the paper, we will illustrate the main design principles on which the MoULe project is based in particular, we will justzb the choice of a specific Learning Management System to be integrated in the project, and will point out how the MoULe architecture and plannedfunctionalities can overcome the limits of a platform based only on the LMSs available nowadays. Special attention has been paid to the accessibility issues. The MoULe project is part of the CORFAD project. CORFAD was set up by the Sicilian government with the aim of developing a centre of knowledge for distance learning.
