A decade for centuries. 10 years of unlocking the past by the Institute for archaeological and monumental heritage

The contributions here presented highlight an operational path. starting from the identification and selection of operational models, they move to the understanding and dissemination of messages, finally ending with the proposal of interpretations and therefore, of operational practices and methodologies available to different contexts: research, public policy, business, with a special focus on the wider context represented by contemporary society, that is the main observatory of how we live and how we operate.the volume has four sections. the first is dedicated to "settlements, territories, landscapes: tools, methods and techniques". it includes all the contributions on the theme of understanding, preservation and enjoyment of settlements and landscapes, representing the main research fields of investigation of the institute.the second section is entitled, "Material culture and society: processes of recognition, analysis and interpretation" and includes contributions on the analysis of artifacts, images, contexts and in general all that it is possible to enclose under the broad definition of "material culture".the third section is named "technologies and tools for the diagnosis and conservation of cultural heritage". as in the other sections, the contributions presented here highlight the urgent need for a deeper multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary dialogue between different kinds of specialism.the final section is focused on the theme of "technologies and tools for the understanding, documentation and communication of cultural heritage".
