Optical Properties of (CdSe)ZnS/Thermoplastic Polymer Nanocomposites

Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2009
abstract:
Highly luminescent (CdSe)ZnS nanocrystals (NCs), with band edge emission in the red region of the visible spectrum, were successfully synthesized and incorporated in mr-I 8030 thermoplastic polymer. Nanocomposite films were characterized by spectroscopical (UV-vis absorption and emission) and structural (TEM analysis) techniques. A comparison of the photoluminescence (PL) properties of (CdSe) ZnS and CdSe hybrids was carried out; then, the optical properties of the core-shell composites were evaluated as a function of NCs concentration, time dependence and temperature change in order to employ these materials for conventional nanoimprint lithography (NIL). Experiments showed that the incorporation of luminescent NCs in the thermoplastic polymer adds new and peculiar optical properties to materials suitable for permanent photonic applications.
