Effects of sowing time on seed composition in a collection of Camelina sativa varieties.

Abstract
Publication Date:
2022
abstract:
Camelina [Camelina sativa (L.) Crantz], native to Europe and southwest Asia, is a non-food oleaginous belonging to the Brassicaceae family. In this study, seed composition of several varieties with different geographical origin was investigated. Fatty acid profile, oil and protein content, and the amount of some antinutritional compounds in relation to sowing time were measured. The collected results reveal appreciable differences among the tested varieties for nutritional and antinutritional components and that the sowing time significantly affects the seed composition.
