Results on tropical-like cyclones in the Mediterranean Sea

Among the cyclones with tropical characteristics identified in the Mediterranean Sea, the case that affected southeastern Italy on 26 September 2006 is one of most deeply investigated. The main results obtained in a number of papers in the last few years are briefly summarized here. Some future plans on the study of Mediterranean tropical-like cyclones are finally presented
