Cathodoluminescence (CL) is the emission of photons as the result of the interaction between energetic electrons and matter. In semiconductors, the excitation by a highly energetic electron beam generates electron-hole (e-h) pairs within a specimen volume.
The excess carriers then thermalize and diffuse inside the material and finally recombine, either by nonradiative processes or by photon emission.....
