abstract:
From 1993 to 1997, a few realistic scenarios for small scientific missions in lunar orbit were investigated in Italy. The idea was to use, to the maximum extent possible, national technologies and capabilities, by trying at the same time to minimise launch and development costs through international co-operation. But, unfortunately, these ideas and concepts remained on the drawing board. This paper describes briefly the technical rationale behind these missions.
