Tuscany: historical landscapes as cultural heritage

The Laboratorio del Paesaggio in Pisa proposes a new landscape evaluation methodology that is quite different compared to the traditional one. While urbanistic and environmental studies are usually based on the complex territorial analysis or on the coding of formal and functional typologies, the new method tries to overtake the indefinite and subjective criteria of landscapers in order to found a definite history based science. The proposal is to draw a complete map of lands where each landscape is recognized and perimetered not for its aesthetic shape but for the period in which it was born or built.
