Fabry-Perot frequency discriminators: sensitivity, amplitude noise immunity and noise limits

Optical frequency discriminators based on Fabry-Perot cavities are analyzed with particular attention to their amplitude-noise response and to the sensitivity limits imposed by the detection shot-noise level. Comparisons between different schemes are carried out.
