Intermittent permeation of cylindrical nanopores by water

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2002
abstract:
A highly simplified, generic model for the selectivity filter of ion channels, which is entirely characterized by three physical parameters R, L and ?, was studied. The study was limited to L=0.8 nm. For this channel length of L=0.8 nm, the threshold radius was lowered. The time scale for the intermittency increased with channel length L.
