abstract:
This paper aims at examining an unpublished archaeological collection of Aegean-Mycenaean pottery, now stored in the Archaeological Museum of Ragusa, Sicily. This collection belonged to the famous archaeologist
Biagio Pace (1889-1955), who collected such material during his explorative activity carried out in Rhodes in 1913. This pottery assemblage is of relevant importance in historical and archaeological terms, because it can be integrated to a group of items found at Ialysos and further moved to the National Archaeological Museum of Florence. Other archaeological material related to the Pace collection comes from the Neolithic deposits at Sesklo, Thessaly, as well as from different Minoan sites of Crete, i.e. the palace at Phaistos. It is worth noting the presence of two clay anthropomorphic figurines, respectively coming from the acropolis at Ialysos on Rhodes and from Prinias on Crete.
