abstract:
As major molecules of the basement membrane (BM), laminins are important protein
fragments for the epithelial cell adhesion and migration. Since oxidic ceramics are potentially
suitable for dental applications, the present paper is focused on the study of laminin interaction with
the surface of two alumina-zirconia composites with different percentage in ZrO2, both with
submicrometric grain size. Laminin 1 (Ln-1) was adsorbed onto the surface and the interaction was
studied via XPS. The cells grown on the laminin-functionalized materials showed good vitality and
spreading.
