A new microwave-assisted approach to the chemical analysis of mortars

A new chemical extraction method based on high pressure microwave assisted acid attack is proposed as an alternative to conventional acid procedures for the chemical analysis of mortars. In particular the extraction of trace metals such as Fe and Al is gratly enhanced. A more accurate determnination of trace metals for archaeometric investigations is to be expected.
