Stima economica e valutazione tramite GIS del servizio ecosistemico recreation nella Provincia di Grosseto

Ecosystem services can be defined as humankind benefits derived from a multitude of resources and processes supplied by natural ecosystems. Scientists and environmentalists have discussed ecosystem services for decades and one of the results of this debate is formalized in the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MEA or MA) a four-year study launched in the 2001 with the support of the United Nations and that involved the work of more than 1,360 experts worldwide. It is the most comprehensive survey of the ecological state of the planet and provides a state-of-the-art scientific appraisal of the condition and trends in the world's ecosystems, the services they provide and the options to restore, conserve or enhance the sustainable use of ecosystems. Starting from MA reports and various, scientific articles, a project concerning the Grosseto Province area has been conducted: the (work-in-progress) project, developed using GIS tools, consists in the assessment and evaluation of the ecosystem service "recreation".
