Inelastic X-ray scattering has been employed to study the sound dispersion of I nitrogen ill its liquid and supercritic 11 phase. In the liquid phase, the occurrence Of a positive Sound dispersion was clearly observed, associated with a structural relaxation process. This phenomenon gradually disappears approaching the supercritical phase.
