abstract:
The shallow landslides events can cause hazard/risk conditions very high. These conditions, which can occur when there is a widespread presence of predisposing factors to shallow landslides, usually affecting large areas and thus can interact with many stretches of road. The research in progress aims to define, with different methods, possible scenarios of hazard/risk determined by events of shallow landslides for road networks, with reference to a study area of the Stretta di Catanzaro (Calabria). For the study purposes we have used the data relative to shallow landslides (SLs) occurred in 2008-2010 in sands (LU-SC) and clays (LU-MC). The information concerning SLs are transferred into cells 5x5 m DTM produced by regional technical map. In the first phase of work only the main SLs predisposing factors (lithology, slope, and shares) have been assumed, and the 5x5 m cells potentially unstable have been detected. The consequent possible hazard scenario allows to identify the stretches of road potentially at risk in the road networks. The results provide information to support the management of emergencies, in the course of event and post-event, and for the planning of any necessary upgrades of road networks. The same results also provide inputs for the next phases of the research.
