Evaluation of resistance to dry and soft rot of potato clones adapted to mediterranean regions.

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2004
abstract:
16 breeding clones, obtained within the Italian National Project Potato breeding', and two commercial cultivars (Arinda' and 'Spunta'), were screened for resistance to Fusarium sambucinum and Erwinia carotovora subsp. carotovora. The screening was performed on tubers grown in the winter-spring cycle, in Southern Italy (Angri). Genotypes CS 90-164-13 and E 2121 proved the most resistant both to F. sambucinum 1228mc ISPaVe and E. carotovora subsp. carotovora 009 ArBoPaVe. The new clones ISCI 88/95-39 and ISCI 24/93-147 showed a good agronomical performance when grown in extra-seasonal cycle in agronomical trials performed in Southern Italy (Scafati, Salerno).
