Long-range plasmonic waveguides controlled by nematic liquid crystals

abstract:
The optical properties of gold stripe waveguides enhanced with a liquid-crystal overlayer are theoretically investigated. Extensive tunability of modal effective index, area and losses can be achieved via the electro-optic control of the nematic molecules. © 2012 IEEE.
