Gas Geobarometry in boiling hydrothermal system: a possible tool to evaluate the hazard of hydrothermal explosions
Academic Article
Publication Date:

abstract:
The gas geobarometry methodology based onCO, H2, CH4, CO2 and H2O contentys seems to be an effective tool to evaluate the hazard of hydrothermal explosions, as indicated by its application to the fumaroles of Guaga Pichincha crater (Ecuador), Vulcano beach (Aeolian Islands, Italy) and Solfatara crater (Phlegraean Fields, Italy), alla fed by boiling hydrothermal aquifers.
