Abstract:
This paper deals with an optimized simulation of industrial control applications
following the component-based standard IEC 61499. According to this standard, a
Function Block (FB) is an event triggered component and an application is a network of
distributed blocks. We design these components in different abstraction levels to reduce
the development complexity. To optimize the simulation, we define critical scenarios
presenting application executions with high probabilities to fall into faults. To bring the
application into such scenarios, we propose to apply a simulation based on a fault injection
technique. By considering the application modularity, we exploit the master-slave model
to implement the simulator. The master defines errors allowing to bring the application
into critical scenarios, whereas each slave injects these errors in the behavior of blocks
belonging to a particular abstraction level
