Dependence of the order-disorder transition temperature of 1-octadecanethiol/silver system on the substrate size

abstract:
A phenomenological correlation between the order-disorder transition temperature is described as detected by differential scanning calorimetric analysis (DCA) of the 1-octadecanethiol/Ag system. It is shown that the transition point of a 1-octade-canethiol layer chemisorbed on the surface of silver particles increases with decreasing of the particle size value. At this stage, this behavior can be accounted for in terms of the weaker or stronger interactions inside the self-organized monolayer.
