abstract:
During the 4th century BC, Daunian aristocracies reach their apex established by the
large funerary assemblages but, above all, by the large funerary structures, which
arise in this period. These were exemplary expressions of the need of ruling families
to emphasize their prestige by constructing monumental houses of the dead: the semichamber
and the chamber tombs.
