Studio ambientale e progetto di riqualificazione della fascia costiera del Comune di Portici, Campania

Campania coastline is characterized by landscapes of exceptional natural value, yet it holds a large share of economic resources with important urban and industrial centres, road infrastructure and tourism activities; this area is one of the most subject to environmental degradation both for the intrinsic fragility being typical of each transition environment and for the conflicting interests that therein concentrated. The entire coastal strip shows an urbanization so pushed to upset the natural geo-environmental order: examples are the residential settlements of the Vesuvian coast. The Municipality of Portici, in recent years, was intent on pursuing the goal of "Improving the Quality of Life" of Portici community, orienting its activities in order to return to the citizens that precious resource called "coast". To this end the process was performed by moving the centre of recreational activities to the old Bourbon port area. This objective was pursued by the Administration through a close coordination with the province and the region governments as well as developing a general policy for the recovery of the coastline.
