abstract:
Issues of cultural interactions-conflicts due to migration dynamics in the contemporary city are increasingly crossing media debates, policies and the majority of planned and informal transformations of urban spaces and communities. This study has been developed within the framework of a research project oriented at implementing urban strategies for immigration in order to dealing with cultural interaction processes in a resilient city. The literature review and the fieldwork have demonstrated the impact of dedicated policies on migrations in producing segregation and tensions. According to these findings, the research activities has been oriented at interpreting and systemising the main elements of the (planned and/or informal) adapting process of the urban system to the cultural coexistence. In the paper, by discussing approaches and contexts in three purposely selected urban areas, a multicultural regeneration process will be introduced in order to manage conflicts and tensions.
