abstract:
This study examines some of the correspondence practices of three queens of the Kingdom of Naples: Mary of Hungary, Sancia of Majorca and Joanna I.
The three sovereigns, during their long reigns, demonstrated both in the face of the Kingdom's military and political-diplomatic emergencies and in their personal initiatives of religious and artistic promotion, great managerial skills, as well as autonomous personalities that are reflected in the respective missives written by them, or rather by their chancelleries. The essay is mainly based on unpublished documents preserved in the Archive of the Crown of Aragon in Barcelona.
