1st International Symposium on Mobile Learning for Visually Impaired People (ISML-VIP 2012) that was be held in Palermo, 25 May 2012.The ISML-VIP 2012 was organized within the VODIE - Vocational Education of Visually Impaired People via Distance Education project. The VODIE is a two year project, founded with support from European Commission within the Lifelong Learning Programme, Multilateral Project, Leonardo Da Vinci.
The main topic of the International Symposium is the use of mobile technologies for learning, with special attention to applications for visually impaired users. For this to happen, the main aim of the ISML-VIP will be to investigate the importance as well as limits of the mobile technologies for learning for visually impaired people. Several studies have evaluated mobile and wireless technologies as being particularly suited to the implementation of learning settings; in addition, the scientific community has highlighted that mobile learning could be a suitable methodology to support specific learning needs and methodologies.
