In what follows, we will attempt to describe the relationship between the nature of the Italian language
and the reading and writing difficulties which may occur when children learn to read. The Chapter
is divided into three sections. In the first section, The Italian Language, the main linguistic and
cognitive features of the language are outlined and the most frequent reading and writing errors
in the Italian language are described
