This chapter (in Portuguese) provides the basic concepts and all the necessary details and calculations to set up an easy and efficient system for cardiorespiratory and metabolic monitoring in critically ill patients. It is based on the analysis of expired, arterial and mixed venous oxygen and carbon dioxide tensions, and on complementary data. The method may be set up, and is suitable for use, also in Hospitals which lack major equipments.
